Johanna Connors was born at Sporthouse, Waterford on 10th February 1886. She was the youngest of 11 children born to James Connors (a coachman) and Catherine Power. [1][2]
In 1901 Johanna was a 15 year old scholar living with her parents and two older siblings at Sporthouse.[3][4] Ten years later, in 1911, Johanna was recorded as a 24-year old living in Manor St, Waterford City with her sister Ellen and her family. Her occupation was a dressmaker.[5][6]
She married William Lannon (A railway worker) on 23rd November 1930 at Butlerstown church. Her brother William and niece Elizabeth were the witnesses[7].[8] Tragically, her husband William did not live long after the marriage. He died the following year on 27th September from a heart attack suffered following an accidental fall. [9]
Johanna herself died on 14th September 1959 at the age of 74 years.[10]
Research Notes
Birth surname spelling:
Most of this family are recorded at birth and in pre-1900 records with the surname "Connors" but later they seem to mostly use "O'Connor" in preference.
Marriage surname:
The surname of Johanna's husband seems to vary in spelling between "Lannon" and "Lennon". The earliest record found for him is spelt "Lannon" but in other records and according to family memories, the spelling was mostly known as "Lennon".
Burial location:
Further research needed.
