Biography
MISS Phyllis Constable was born in Johnsonburg PA, July 28,1925 to Roy.B. and Blanche Osborne Constable. She was the 3rd daughter in the family to attend the Episcopal Nursing School in Philadelphia. She served as an army nurse, returning to Elk County and settling down in Wilcox,PA with life partner Elizabeth Dean. She operated a Constable store associate vending children's clothes out of Wilcox. She was a woman way ahead of her times and never afraid to stand up for what she thought.

"Just call me 'Phil!" with an extended hand and a straight-forward attitude. Aunt Phyllis bucked a lot of tradition and did things her own way and no one dared confront her. She was going to live her life her own way and not rely on anyone else. Taught me how to 'borrow corn' from an un-attended field, enjoy frozen bananas, and to always speak my mind. She and her life-friend 'Aunt Diz' were always house guests and always fun. From her, I learned to respect other peoples' life-style values....Jeans,over-sized men's shirts, long before Stonewall, and self-sufficient. Didn't care what people thought, cared about what people did.
