Research Notes

There is no source that assures us that this Persis is in fact Leurena's mother. We do have evidence that Leurenas mother was named Persis, but In the Missouri census, Leurena's father was said to be born in NEW YORK and mother born in OHIO. This Persis is born in VT.

It is assumed that Samuel Ellis, Born in Oh. related somehow but the exact relationship remains unclear. (See notes from London, Ohio Public Library 1997 October) Persis was born in 1783. She passed away about 1860.
