I've been told through the family grapevine that Lydia died when her children were still fairly young, soon after the Civil War was over. The death of her husband, Harvey Petty happened during the Civil War in the area where they lived near Pleasant Hill, Mo. I'm still trying to decipher much of this family and what happened. Harvey and Lydia Petty (Patee) are found in 1850 in Livingston Co. Mo next door to her mother Susan Cook and near the home of William and Mary Petty. (I believe she became Mary (maiden name?) Petty, Jennings and the mother of Angeline Jennings, who married young John Petty of Harvey and Lydia's family.

The children, Jasper, John, Susan and Isabelle Petty are found in 1870 in the household of Oliver Petty in Sni a bar Missouri. Included here is my g grandfather, John Petty. He was never known to speak of his Civil War history. I hope this is not as confusing as it really is.
