MEMBER OF PIONEER PASSES. 5 GENERATIONS. A member of a very esteemed pioneer district family was Mrs. Leabatine Rosemine Beatrice Luxford, who died at her residence at Llandilo on August 21st after a short illness. Mrs. Luxford who was 88 years of age was born at Cook's Bush, near Dunheved, and lived in the district all her life. Her maiden name was Cook and she married in St. Mary Magdalene Church, St. Mary's to Arthur Edwin Luxford, who died 16 years ago. Daughters and Sons of Mrs. Luxford are: Esther May (Mrs. Glover, Merrylands), Reginald James, (Llandilo), Stella Ann (Mrs. Turner, Orchard Hills), Albert Edwin, (Jamisontown), Lotti Jeanetta (Mrs. Alcorn, Derby Street,Kingswood), 5 daughters and one son pre-deceased her. Mrs. Luxford also leaves 14 Grandchildren, 2 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. Thus she was a family of 5 generations. Mrs. Luxford was Postmistress at Llandilo for 25 years, continuing in the position after the death of her husband. The father of late Mr. Arthur Edwin Luxford was a pioneer of the district, coming there from Sydney when it largely comprised of ti-tree scrub. He brought with him a bell for St. Marys Church. Mrs. Luxford's father worked for Governor King as a cook on the Governor's property at St. Mary's. The Funeral took place on August 23rd, leaving the Funeral Home of John Price and Son, Penrith, for the Church of St. Mary Magdalene where a service was conducted by the Rector of St. Mary's, the Rev. G.J. Ward who afterwards officiated at the graveside in the adjoining cemetery. Among many others, wreaths were received from Llandilo P. and C.A. Warders and Parishoners of St. David Church, Llandilo, G.U.O.O.F. Penrith.
