Biography

Hannah Ann Cook was born on September 17, 1840, her father, William, was 29, and her mother, Abigail, was 30. She married Stephen Hammond Belyea on July 13, 1857, in Carleton, New Brunswick, Canada.[1] They had 11 children in 23 years. She died on January 6, 1918, in Castle Hill, Maine, at age 77 years.[2]He was buried in the Castle Hill Cemetery, Castle Hill, Aroostook County, Maine, USA[3]

Obituary: MRS HANNAH A. BELYEA

The community was saddened on hearing of the death from heart failure of Mrs. Hannah Ann Cook, widow of the late Stephen Belyea, at the home of her son in Mapleton, Sunday morning January 6th, after an illness of only four days.

The deceased, a daughter of William and Annie Cook, was born at Nashwaak, N.B, Sept. 17 1839. She was married at Rockland July 12 1857.

She was the mother of ten children, nine of whom survive. They are as follows: Mrs. Annie Clark, Natick, Mass.; Mrs. Mary Dudley and Marvin E. of Stratford, Wash.; John W. and Mrs. Maggie Webber of Mapleton, Thomas of Presque Isle, Mrs. Camilla Hilton deceased, Sept. last, Percy of Portland, Mrs. Sadie Williams of Presque Isle and Mrs. Myrtle Otto, of Winthrop, Mass.

Also a large number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She also has two half brothers Jedediah and Charles Cook of New Brunswick and a half sister, Mrs. Maggie Clowes of Vassleboro.

Many years ago she was baptized and joined the Calvary Baptist Church of Rockland, N.B.
