Biography

James was born in Kentucky on 17 Apr 1828 to Hosea Cook Jr. and Rhoda Bohannon.

It appears that he is listed on the 1850 census twice. Once in Caldwell, Kentucky[1] and again with his family in Washington Township, Decatur, Indiana[2]. More research is needed to see if in fact they are both him.

By 1858 he is living in Carroll, Missouri and marries Mary Jane Ballew on 16 Mar 1858[3][4][5][6][7]. Together they have at least one child.

David Frank Cox b. 17 Feb 1861 d. 1 Jun 1940.

In 1860 he is living in Grape Grove Township, Ray, Missouri[8].

Sometime before 1970 his first wife Mary J died and James marries Mary C Utterback in Carroll, Missouri abt. 1870[citation needed].

Together James and Mary C. Utterback have the following children.

Edith Darlin Cook b.15 October 1870 d. 3 Mar 1941.

Margaret Ann Cook b. 13 Nov 1873 d. 1 Sep 1949.

In 1880 until his death in 1922 he was living in , Ellis, Texas[9][10][11][12].

James died on 10 Sep 1922 in Eillis, Texas and is buried in Mountain Peak Cemetery[13].
