Jane Cook was born in 1890 in Parr, St Helens. She was the daughter of Samuel Cook and Jane (Bradbury or Morris) Cook.
By April 5th 1891, Samuel and Jane were living in Chancery Lane, Parr. Samuel was working as a coal miner, and they had two children with them - James aged two, and baby Jane. They also had a four-year-old son, John Thomas Cook, who was with his maternal grandparents when the census was taken. Also in Samuel and Jane's household was a boarder named James Mather, a thirty-year-old collier from Pendleton.
By March 31st 1901, they were still living in Chancery Lane, and Samuel was still a coal hewer. John Thomas, now 15, was back with his parents; James was thirteen, and Jane eleven. Four more children had been born since the previous census - Lily aged nine, Albert aged five, Florence aged two, and baby Agnes.
John Thomas married Margaret Leyland on August 4th 1906 at St Thomas' Church in Eccleston (Anglican).
Jane married Walter Fenney on March 9th 1911 at St Peter's Church in Parr (Anglican).
By April 2nd 1911, Jane and Walter had their own household in St Helens. Walter was working as a coal hewer.
Jane died January 16th 1965, aged 75, and was buried at St Peter's on January 20th. Walter died May 9th 1968 at the age of 81, and was buried on May 15th in the same grave.
