Biography

Adelaide (Cook) Daly is a part of US Black heritage.

Adelaide H. Cook was born about 1896 in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Charles and Mary Cook. Her father was a professor at Howard University. She was raised in Washington, DC.[1][2]

In 1907 Adelaide travelled to Spain with her aunt Elizabeth Appo Cook. They returned from Gibraltar in October 1907.[3]

Adelaide H. Cook married Victor Daly on 5 February 1918 in DC.[4] In 1930 they were living with their two daughters in Washington. Adelaide was a teacher.[5]

Adelaide was a Spanish teacher at Dunbar High School from 1923 to her death. She graduated from M Street High School, attended Cornell University (she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa) and received her Master's Degree in Education from Catholic University.[6]

She died on 28 April 1954 in Washington.[7]
