Yes, I have the same information, that John Gilbert was her father.

Yes, I have also sent a message to the person who entered that information on Find A Grave. The photograph is a valid source; the link to the parents is not.

I don't believe the William Cook who was born 9 May 1762 in Branford, New Haven, CT, and was the son of Waitstill Cook, is the William Cook who died in New Hartford, Litchfield, CT, 5 Jan 1834.There was another William Cook born 2 Jan 1762 in Harwinton to William and Hannah (Hinsdale) Cook. On page 8 of Sketches of the People and Places of New Hartford in the Past and Present published in 1883, the William Cook who married Theodosia Gilbert moved to New Hartford from Harwinton about 1786. His brother Gurdon Wadsworth Cook also married a Gilbert (Lucy) in New Hartford. The tombstone photo on FindaGrave clearly shows age at death as 72 which only fits the William born 2 Jan. The New Haven William would only have been 71 on 5 Jan 1834. Does anyone have any sources that show that the New Haven William moved to New Hartford?

Did you click on the link to Find A Grave? He is buried in New Hartford and there is a photograph on his F.A.G memorial. That is supposed to be a valid source.

While FAG is a valid source the info is not always correct. I have corrected info on some of my ancestors. Take the info with a grain of salt.

I believe you are correct.

Marsh Genealogy. Giving Several Thousand Descendants of John Marsh of Hartford, CT 1636-1895. Also including some Account of English Marshes And A Sketch of the Marsh Family Association of America. Compiled, Edited, and Published Dwight Whitney Marsh, No. 5251 of Amherst, Mass. Amherst, Mass, Press of Carpenter & Morehouse, 1895. Pg. 199. In this book he is listed as Capt. William Cook who came from Harwinton in 1786 to New Hartford. His parents are not noted. He was a blacksmith and it said every nail used in building his house was forged by him. He sold this house to Dr. Edward Dorr Griffin who later became president of Williams College.

I looked up Sketches of the People and Places of New Hartford in the Past and Present Section 1. New Hartford, Connecticut and published at the office of the Tribune. It has all his info correct except for the name of Theodosia's father who I believe is John Gilbert 1746-1795 and Theodocia Marsh 1747-1827.
