Biography

European Aristocracy
Joan Cooke was a member of the aristocracy in British Isles.

Joan Cooke was the daughter and coheir of Thomas Cooke of Rustington in Sussex. She married by 1522 John Covert. She died before 1545.

Research Notes

She was daughter and coheir of Thomas Cooke of Rustington, which was not Sir Thomas Cooke KB & Malpas-1, disconnected for now.

She previously had the birth date 1460 and death date 25 Oct 1515.

Joan Cooke, daughter of Thomas Cooke of Rustington in Sussex was the first wife of John Covert to whom she was married by 1522. Together they had two sons and two daughters. During the course of the marriage her husband took for his mistress Anne, daughter of William Beard of Cowfold. With her John had 3 sons and 3 daughters. [1]

Joan must have died by 1545 when John married Anne.

The Visitations of Sussex lists her as Elizabeth, daughter and heir of John Cooke of Rustington, wife of John Covert and mother of Richard.[2]

Cooke-4364 and Cooke-138 appear to represent the same person because: Two ladies with no forbears having the same name and married to the same man. The only difference is the children and there is not a full list yet.
