Peter Cooke, son of Joseph Cook, [1] was born in about 1823 in Hawkesbury, Gloucestershire. [2] He was christened on 14 September 1823 at the Lower Congregational Chapel, Wickwar, Glos.[3] He married Jane Limbrick on 12 November 1844 at St Mary Redcliffe, Bristol. [1]

On 2 April 1871 in Hawkesbury, Gloucestershire, with his wife Jane Cook and their children William A. Cook aged 25, Edwin Cook aged 23, Eliza Cook aged 19, Walter Cook aged 17, George L. Cook aged 15, Andrew Cook aged 13, Daniel Cook aged 11, Julia Cook aged 9, Sidney Cook aged 7 and Emily Cook aged 3. [4]

On 3 April 1881 on Manor Farm, Charlton, Wiltshire, with his wife Jane Cooke and their children Eliza Cooke aged 26, George L. Cooke aged 24, Andrew Cooke aged 22, Daniel Cooke aged 21, Julia Cooke aged 18 and Sidney Cooke aged 17. [2]

According to Marjorie Pocock (Great Grandmother), he kept a stick on the kitchen Mantle place and if he beat one child, he would beat them all; but a look was usually sufficient to keep them in order.
