Ann Goldstraw (aka Gouldstraw, Gooldstraw) was born in about 1836~1839 in Manchester, Lancashire, England to William Goldstraw and Jane (Kennedy) Goldstraw.
In 1851 Ann Goldstraw (age 15, Doubler in C[otton] Factory) lived at Chadwick Court Chadwick Street in Manchester with her father William (40, Joiner), mother Jane (34), brother William (8, Scholar), sister Mary (3), and lodger Selina Mihew (42, Dressmaker).[1]
Ann Goldstraw married Thomas Cooke on 17 Jun 1859 at Manchester Cathedral, Lancashire.[2][3]
In 1861 Ann Cooke (age 22, Cotton Weaver) lived at Minshull Street in Manchester with her husband Thomas (23, Cotton Spinner) and son Joseph (1).[4][5]
In 1871 Ann Cooke (age 32) lived in Manchester with her husband Thomas (32) and three children: Joseph (11), Maria (4), and William (0).[6]
In 1881 Ann Cook (age 43, Charwoman) lived at Fleetwood St in Manchester with her four children: Joseph (21, Labourer), Maria (14), Wm (10, Scholar), and Margaret (8, Scholar).[7] Ann was the head of household, but she was still married. A possible match for her husband is the Thomas Cook (44, Labourer, born in Manchester) who was in prison in Woking, Surrey.[8]
Ann was widowed by the time of the 1891 census.
In 1891 Ann Cook (age 56, Charwoman) lived at William Street in Manchester with her daughter Margaret (18, Reeler Cotton Mill) and lodger Adelaide Hannah (55, Winder Cotton Mill).[9]
