This is the last will and testament of me JOHN COOKE of 34 Audley Road Levenshulme in the city of Manchester commercial traveller.
1. I appoint my son Walter John Cooke of 16 Bridge Lane Bramhall in the county of Chester representative of a Limited Company and James Gill Lister Farrar of 79 Fountain Street in the said city of Manchester solicitor to be the executors and trustees of this my will and they and the survivor of them and the executors or admininstrators of such survivor their or his assigns and other the trustees or trustee for the time being of this my will are intended to be included in the expression "my trustees" used throughout this my will.
2. I give my gold watch and chain and ring to my said son Walter John Cooke free from duty.
3. I devise and bequeath all my estate whatsoever and wheresoever unto my trustees upon trust that they shall sell convert and collect the same (nevertheless I empower them to postpone the sale and conversion thereof for so long a period as they shall think proper) and out of the proceeds thereof pay my debts funeral and testamentary expenses and stand possessed of the residue thereof upon trust to pay the sum of two pounds per month for the maintenance and support or benefit of my daughter Henrietta Cooke during her lifetime. But I declare that if she shall become entitled to any other estate either by will or deed such payment of two pounds per month shall be reduced so that in no event shall she be paid more than two pounds per month and my trustees shall in their absolute discretion divide the payment of the said sum of two pounds per month with such other estate as the said Henrietta Cooke may beome entitled to as aforesaid in such proportions as they shall think fit And if the said Henrietta Cooke shall die before such residue shall have been exhausted Then I direct my trustees to stand possessed of such unexhausted residue In trust for such of my sons as shall then be living and such issue then living of any of them then dead as shall then have attained or shall thereafter attain the age of twenty one years or shall have been or shall be married as tenants in common but so that the issue in each generation shall take in equal shares per stirpes the share only to which the immediate parent would for the time being if living have been entitled.
4. My executors and my trustees may in their uncontrolled discretion instead of acting personally employ and pay a solicitor or any other person to transact any business or do any act of whatever nature required to be done in the premises including the receipt and payment of money and any executor or trustee hereunder being a solicitor or other person engaged in any profession or business and whether or not a sole executor or trustee may be so employed or act and shall be entitled to charge and may be paid all professional and other charges free from duty for any business or act done or time expended by him or his firm in connection with the trust including acts which an executor or a trustee not being a person engaged in any profession or business could have done personally.
5. And hereby revoking all former wills made by me I declare this only to be my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this sixteenth day of April one thousand nine hundred and thirty six.

Also in this grave John's wife Elizabeth Enwright Cooke and their infant daughter Gwendoline. Mentioned also is Dorris Amy Fuon?? Death for this last was registered surname Frear - an infant death 1898.[13]
