Glen Innes Examiner (NSW : 1908 - 1954) Thursday 26 March 1931 p 6 Article OBITUARY MR. JAMES COOKE Keen regret was expressed on Wednesday last when it became known that Mr. James Cooke . had passed away during the early hours of the morning. The deceased, who was only 47 years of age. had been ill a little over a week with pneumonia. The late Mr. Cooke was born at Ben Lomond, going from there, at an early age, to Casino. A blacksmith by trade, he came to Emmaville some 25 years ago and obtained employment on the dredges which were then operating. Of late years he has been in business on his own. The deceased is survived by a widow and six children,. five brothers and two sisters. The high esteem in which he was held was shown by the number of fellow citizens who assembled to pay their last respects. The remains were laid to rest in the Roman Catholic cemetery, Rose Valley, on Fnday afternoon, the Rev. Father Hynes being the officiating: priest.
