Elizabeth was baptised on 20 Apr 1777. Her baptism record gives her surname as Cook and her parents as Thomas and Jane. Orchard descendant Ken Stewart gives Jane's maiden name as "Rogers or Bolitho", without source. Elizabeth's marriage record gives her surname as Cooke. Cooke seems to be correct as her parents' headstone also has that spelling. She died on 29 Dec 1846 and was buried in Mawgan in Meneage on 1 Jan 1847.
Ken Stewart quotes the memoirs of Elzabeth's grandson-in-law John Boaden: “Betty Orchard … was the daughter of old Tome Cooke who came down a young man from North Devon as a wheel-wright to Trelowarren, she had three brothers, Ned, John Tom, all fond of drink & all carpenters, and 3 sisters, one married to Allen at Traboe, another to a Pentecost in St Keverne, and the other, the youngest, Jane to a Trelowarren servant called Green, I think 2 of her sons and one daughter still survives.” Ken Stewart records their headstone in Mawgan in Meneage cemetery: “Sacred to the memory of Thomas COOKE of this parish who departed this life March 7th February 1827 aged 76 years, also Jane his wife died 21st February 1823 aged 72 years, wife and mother”
