Sarah passed away in 1898 and James remarried, marrying Laura (Coval) Cooley in Long Island, Alabama on July 3, 1904.[2] having seven children together. In 1930, they lived in District 5 of Marion County, Tennessee[3] and in 1940, they lived with their son, Raymond, in District 1.[4]
His second wife passed away in November of 1940; James passed away in Bridgeport, Alabama at the age of 82[5] and is buried at Hopewell Road Baptist Church Cemetery in Dunlap, Tennessee.[6]
