This grandmother was b in 1891 to John Coombs & Eliza May. Believe she was the last child born. Not sure how/why she ended up in Manitoba but she met my Grandfather in Portage la Prairie & they wed 1910 M Cert #1910-002853.

I am unsure of how she spelled her last name but think it was Coombs but upon the birth of her children, she spelled it Combs. See Manitoba Vital Stats for Whittier

During WW2 she worked in a factory down East & then cleaning homes & as a cleaner in the schools. Recall her coming to Manitoba for my wedding in MacGregor 1960 . Both grandmothers were at my wedding.

This is my maternal Grandmother. She was born with a club foot & her brother paid to have an operation. She wore two different sized shoes. Feet were always an important thing in the family. She lost her father when about 9 which must have been dreadful. Following is a census showing Carrie 9 yrs old which shows her without her father.

She died in July 1964 & Mom went to her funeral which was held in Galt, Ontario (now Cambridge). Do not have a copy of her death certificate but need to find it.
