Biography

Bethany Coon was born on May 2, 1752 in Hopkinton, Washington, Rhode Island, daughter of Elisha Coon (1727–1778) and Anna Judith Nichols (1727–1784).

Her siblings were:

  2. Asa Coon (1756–1801)
  3. Elizabeth Coon (~1760–1841)
  4. Abram Coon (1763–1813)
  5. James Coon (1767–1848)

Bethany Coon, daughter of Elisha, married Sylvester Satterlee, son of John, in Hopkinton, Rhode Island, on 8 August 1773.[1]

Her husband Sylvester Satterlee (21) was born on June 15, 1752 in Westerly, Rhode Island. Their children were:

  1. Sylvester Satterlee (1773–1864)
  2. Joel B. Satterlee (~1782–1857)
  3. Ethan Grant Satterlee (1787–1864)

Bethany died on February 11, 1813 in Greenwich, Washington County, New York, United States, aged 60.

Research Notes

While most online trees have her death date as 1831, she pre-deceased her husband as he remarried after her death. Following a conversation with a descendant, we're guessing the date of death was inverted at some point, as 1813 would fit with all details.

It appears that Bethany Coon-1126 and Amey Coon-1093 are the same individual. Records suggest Bethany is the correct name.
