Killed by the collapse of the Pemberton Mill
An excerpt from the book:
“The most heart-rending calamity of the age will forever distinguish the Tenth Day of January, 1860. On that day, at thirteen minutes before five o'clock, in the afternoon, the Pemberton Mill, in Lawrence, Mass., fell to the ground without a moment's warning, and buried a large number of operatives in the ruins. The destruction of the whole of the main building was complete, and the succeeding calamity of fire burned and de-stroyed all that the crash had left. “ The full text of the Pemberton Mill can be found at [1] An internet search on “Pemberton Mill” will bring up dozens of newspaper articles.
