Reese was the son of Uriah and Sarah Cooper. He was a union solder in the American Civil War. He enlisted as a private with the 11th Regiment, West Virginia Infantry, Company D and ranked out as a Commissary Sergeant. He is buried in the Annapolis National Cemetery in Maryland. [1]
