In 1910, Oscar (age 8) was living on a farm with his parents in Central, Madison, Missouri, USA. His father was a farmer and they owned their farm but there was a mortgage on it. Oscar had two brothers and a sister-in-law living there also. They were Clarence (age 4), Charlie (age 24) and Charlie's wife Effie (age 22). [1].
In 1920, Oscar's (age 17) parents still owned the farm that they lived on and it still had a morgage against it. Oscar and his brother Clarence (age 14) helped their dad with the farm. Neither son had been in school since September 1919. [2]
On the 27 October 1923 Oscar married Iva Irene Tripp at Millcreek, Madison, Missouri, United States. [3]
After Oscar's parents died in the 1920's, his brother Clarence came to live with him and his family in Central, Madison, Missouri, United States. During the 1930 census, Oscar worked as a laborer in a sawmill and with those wages, he rented a house for $10 a month. [4]

He lived in a boarding home run by George W Lemay. His employment information was not filled out, but it showed that he did earn $800 in the previous year. [6]
