During the 1870 Census, Spencer's widowed mother, Rebecca (Flynn) Cooper made a home for her and the children in Jackson Township, Greene, Indiana, United States. The children were: John Burgess (11), George Edward Henry (8), and Spencer Lowell (5). [2]

By 1900, Spencer and Martha had 3 children and lived in Jackson Township, Greene, Indiana, United States. Spencer was working as a blacksmith and they owned their own home free and clear. Martha had had four children but only three survived. They were: John Claude (1888-1889), Maude Viola (1891-1955), Rebecca Leota Belle (1894-1963) and William Hobart (1896-1970). [5]

It is 1910 and Spencer and Martha are now renting a home in Bloomfield, Greene, Indiana, United States. He is still working as a blacksmith and only the 3 youngest children are still at home. [6]

On the 4th of January 1913, Spencer's daughter, Leota Belle (1897-1972) married Thomas William Wall in Greene, Indiana, United States. [7]

On 5 June 1918, Spencer's son, William Hobart registered for the draft in Greene County, Indiana, United States. [8]

In 1920, Spencer and Martha again own their own home and they have a mortgage on it. They live in the town of Linton, Greene, Indiana, United States with their two youngest children, William Hobart (23) and Alberta Lucille (14). Spencer is working as a teamster in the coal industry and his son William is working as an automobile mechanic in a garage. [9]

Obituary: Last Wednesday, June 30, 1920, Spencer Lowell COOPER died at his home on J Street in Linton, after a short illness. He had been in failing health for some time, but he was cheerful in spite of his suffering and endeavored to do his daily duty without complaining.
