Biography
Susan was baptised on 20 Nov 1846 at Henlow, Bedfordshire, the daughter of James Cooper and Maria Hines. [1]
In the census of 30 Mar 1851 she was living with her parents in Henlow - James Cooper, head 48 straw dealer b Henlow; Maria 50 born "Beds" Tottenham; Sarah unmarried 18 plaiter; Ann 16 plaiter; James 12 straw cutter; Thomas 7 straw cutter; Kitty 9 straw cutter; Susan 4 straw cutter. All children born Henlow. [2]
The census of 7 Apr 1861 shows her in Henlow - James 58, straw factor; Maria 60, straw cutter, born Edmonton Middlesex; Kitty, unmarried,19, straw cutter; Thomas, unmarried, 17, straw cutter; Susan, 14, straw cutter born Henlow; Mary Wheeler, granddaughter,8, born Silsoe; Charles Wheeler, grandson, 5, born Silsoe.[3]
In the 1871 census she was still living at Henlow, in Hitchin Rd - James Cooper, widower, 68 farmer 7 acres employing 1 man & 1 boy, born Henlow: Susan Cooper daughter unmarried 24 housekeeper born Henlow.[4]
She married Thomas George Turner on 11 Jan 1876 at St Paul, Southwark, Surrey - Thomas George Turner age 20, smith, of Webber Row, father Robert Turner, smith & Susan Cooper of full age of Webber Row, father James Cooper market gardener.[5]
She had five children before her early death - George Robert J. 1877, Eve Marie 1878, Beatrice Susan 1879, Edward A 1880, and Emily Ida 1883.
She passed away in the Jun quarter 1885 in Biggleswade registration district, Bedfordshire, age 38. [6]
