William was born in the Sep quarter 1877 at Clifton, Bedfordshire, the son of Arthur Cooper and Sarah Odell. [1]
He married Emma Albone in the Dec quarter 1900 in Biggleswade reegistration district.[2]
In the 1911 census he was living in Clifton - William Cooper 33, Emma Cooper 33; Ada Cooper 10; Jack Cooper 8; Sidney Cooper 6; Connie Cooper 4; Bert Cooper 2; Arthur Cooper 5mths All b Clifton[3]
He was killed in action at the Battle of the Somme, France, on 4 Sep 1916 age 38. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was a corporal with the Bedfordshjire Regiment, service no.3/7846.[4]
