Martha Cooper was born about in 1773, in Shropshire, England. [1]
On 19 August 1804, Martha married William Fenney, a widower, at St Peter and St Paul's Church, Aston Warwickshire, England. [2]
William Fenney and his wife Martha had four children; Elizabeth, Martha, Samuel, and Mary Ann Fenney.
William Fenney was a fender and fire iron maker in Birmingham, and he passed away in 1836. For a short time, Martha and her son Samuel Fenney continued to operate the business. Martha's name appears in the 1839 Trade Directory as a fire iron and fire brass maker, of Lichfield Street, Birmingham. [3]
In 1841, Mrs Martha Fenney, aged 68 years, was living at the home of her daughter, Mrs Martha Garner, and her son-in-law Thomas Garner, a tailor, at Alcester Street, Aston. Martha's daughter, Mary Ann Fenney also lived there. [4]
By 1851 at the time of the England Census, Mary Ann Fenney had married John Dale. Martha Fenney, aged 77 years, was living in Birmingham, with her daughter, Mrs Mary Ann Dale, and her husband, and family. Martha Fenney was listed as a pauper. [1]
Mrs Martha Fenney passed away in Birmingham, on 11 November 1855, at the age of 82 years. [5] She was buried on 18 November 1855 at St Mary's Church Birmingham. [6]
