Emma was born in 1833. She was the daughter of Joseph Cooper and Martha Haynes. She was baptised on 5 June 1833 in Holton, Oxfordshire, England.^[1]

In the 1851 census Emma (age 17) was living with her widowed mother and siblings in Wheatley, Oxfordshire, England.^[2]

Emma married Joseph Vann (a school master) on 24 December 1859 in Wheatley, Oxfordshire, England.^[3]

In the 1881 census Emma (age 46) was living with her husband and a teenaged son in Market Place, Stow-on-the-Wold, Gloucestershire, England. Her husband was working as a tobacconist. ^[4]

Emma died in 1887 and was buried on 20 September 1887 in Stow on the Wold, Gloucestershire, England.^[5]
