Biography

John Cooper or Couper, was born 24 October 1597, the only son of Sir John Cooper and his wife, Margaret or Martha Skutt. His father died in 1610, leaving nearly 7,000 acres in Somerset and Hampshire, including Pawlett in Somerset, and the recently purchased Rockbourne estate.[1]

John married Anne Ashley. They had two sons and one daughter. She died of smallpox in 1628.[1]

John subsequently married Mary Hicks.[1]

John was knighted on 10 July 1622, and also became the 1st Baronet in 1622.[1][2]

He died on 23 March 1631, and was buried at Wimborne St. Giles.[1]

Cooper-19866 and Cooper-435 appear to represent the same person because: Same given name, same LNAB, same date of birth, same spouse, same child

Why was the merger with Cooper-435 rejected? They are both clearly for the same person. There should only be one wikitree profile for a person.

Cooper-19496 and Cooper-435 appear to represent the same person because: Same dates of birth and death, same wife Ann Ashley these two profiles are meant to be the same person - please merge them.

Cooper-8611 and Cooper-435 are not ready to be merged because: Same death date. Children's' names are similar but not same. Need to check if married twice. Several inconsistencies.
