Joseph Cooper was born at Pulaski County, Kentucky, a son of James Cooper and Lucy Matthews [1]

Joseph married on 12 Nov 1823 at Pulaski County, KY, to Patsey Ferguson, performed by Malachi Cooper, who was Joseph's grandfather.[2] David B. Ferguson gave surety on 7 Oct 1823.[3]
