COPE Robert B. Cope, 83, of Upper Arlington, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2011 ^[2] at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

He was born January 31, 1927 to the late J. Harold and Mary Cope. Bob grew up in New Philadelphia and was a 1944 graduate of New Philadelphia High School.

Bob graduated from Mt. Union College in Alliance, OH and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His trip on The Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in 2009 moved him dearly.

He retired from Shoe Corporation of America after 41 years. Bob was a real people person and enjoyed telling stories.

He was a long time member of Boulevard Presbyterian Church, where he volunteered and served as a deacon and elder, and volunteered at Boys & Girls Club of Columbus.

He was a member of A.P. F&AM Lodge #177 in New Philadelphia, American Legion; life member of 210 Footwear Assoc., and previous member of Columbus Maennerchor.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Grace Haverfield and brother Howard Rogers. Bob will be missed by his loving wife of 58 years, Cathie; sister, Barbara Kelly of Texas; nephews, Mark (Pat) Haverfield of Florida and William (Rita) Hart of Maryland; niece, Judy Eubanks of Missouri; and many great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Boulevard Presbyterian Church, 1235 Northwest Blvd., Columbus, OH 43212, where the family will receive friends immediately following the service. Rev. James Sledge, officiating. Private family burial will be held in the spring in New Philadelphia. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob's memory to Boulevard Presbyterian Church or Girls & Boys Club of Columbus, 1012 Cleveland Ave., Columbus, OH 43201.^[3]
