Alice Rebecca Copeland was born 27 August 27 1878 in Ohio, United States.
She married to Reuben Waldo May, March 25, 1894, in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. They came to Washington State in 1922 and to the Kittitas Valley in 1932. For the last 12 years of Alice's life they had made their home at 1202 North Poplar Street. Mrs. May was a member of the Ellensburg Church of God.
She died Wednesday night May 11, 1955 at Sorensen Memorial Hospital at the age of 76 years. She had been hospitalized since December 21, 1954.
The survivors include 101 descendents--11 children, 46 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. The survivors, in addition to her husband, include eight daughters, Mrs. Laura Maxwell and Mrs. Nora Rogers, both of Seattle; Mrs. Mary Chugg, Grand Prairie, Alberta, Canada; Mrs. Fanny Martin, Libby, Montana; Mrs. Dora Fall, Edmonds; Mrs. Luella Hemenway, Centralia; and Mrs. Neva Tyler and Mrs. Leona Ellison, both of Ellensburg; three sons, Waldo May of Edmonds; Lawrence May of Ashland, Oregon, and Charles May of Ellensburg and two sisters and a brother in Wisconsin. Two other children preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Evenson Chapel the Saturday morning following her death at 10 o'clock, with Rev. R. W. mercer of Yakima officiating. Burial was in the Thorp Cemetery.
