John Copeland was a son of John Copeland and Sarah (Dodd) Copeland.^[1]

Birth

He was born 31 December 1878 in County Down, Ireland and his birth was registered at Newry, County Down.^[1][2]

Marriage

John Copeland and Annie Nugent were married 26 May 1914 at City Hall, Manhattan, New York, United States of America.^[3][4] She died in 1927.^[5]

John Copeland and [Stephenson-5611|Nancy (Stephenson) McGaw]] were married 16 June 1928 at the Register Office, West Derby, Liverpool, Lancashire.^[6][7]

• Connection based on his date of birth as given in the 1939 Register which matches that in the Irish Birth Register. His parents names link him to the 1914 marriage.
• 1910 census connection based on the names of his siblings. See FS tree for siblings
• 1910 census indicates a previous marriage of 3 years duration.
• 1914 marriage shows Annie Nugent age 24 born in Ireland.
• An "Annie Copeland" arrived at Liverpool from New York on 30 April 1916. The address given was "57 Dorrit Street, Liverpool" - very similar to "57 Dorall Road" as given by John. However her age is shown as 37. She is shown as a USA citizen and intending to return.^[12]
• Not identified in Death Registration index. Not 1958 age 80 in Bootle district. He husband of Hannah Copeland.
