John was born in 1829. He passed away in 1906.

  • Son of Peter Copeland (1803-1847) and wife Mary Tuggle Copeland (1802-1890) of Harris County, GA.

Grandson of William Copeland, Sr. (1777-1859) and wife Elizabeth "Betsy" Dunn (1784-1836) of Harris County, GA.

John was recorded in a slave schedule in 1850 in Valley Plains, Harris, Georgia, United States as a slave owner of 12 enslaved people.[1]

Thomas was recorded in a slave schedule in 1860 in Georgia Militia District 786, Harris, Georgia, United States as a slave owner of 17 enslaved people.[2]
