Biography

John Thomas Copeland was born on December 16, 1820, in Putnam, Georgia, United States, son of John Thomas Copeland (1784–1845) and Penelope Moseley (1788–1844). [1]

John (26) married Mary Cox (18) (born about 1828 in Georgia; daughter of James M. Cox) on May 10, 1847, in Harris, Georgia. [2] [3] Their daughter was Fannie Lee Copeland (1848–1920).

After Mary's death, John (30) married her sister, Sarah Elizabeth Cox (15) (born about 1835 in Georgia; daughter of James M. Cox and Exa Delaney Robinson) on September 22, 1851, in Harris, Georgia. [4] [5] [6] John and Sarah moved to Franklin County, Texas before 1880. [7]

  3. William H (1860–1927)
  4. Sallie J (1862–)
  5. Mattie Lee (1865–1930)
  6. Nettie Lee (1868–1886)

  8. John Pitt Copeland (1876-1965)

John died on February 26, 1886, in Franklin, Texas, United States, aged 65. He is buried in Gray Rock Cemetery, Franklin County, Texas. [8]
