Paolo or Paul was one of many children born to Paolo Coppola and Rosa Suverato of San Pietro a Maida. He was born May 31st, 1886 and immigrated to Haverhill, Massachusetts like his siblings, Giovanni and Concetta.
Paolo first arrived in America on October 20th, 1902 after sailing from Naples, Italy aboard the S.S. Citta di Napoli. He arrived in New York and stopped in Philadelphia before ultimately ending up in Haverhill, Mass. He married Lena King in 1909[1] and lived with her family in the 1910 census in Goshen, New Hampshire.[2] She passed away three years after they were married. By 1920, he married fellow San Pietro a Maida native, Antonia Iellamo (Yellum).
According to World War I draft cards, he registered twice. A note about the first enlistment is on his second card.[3][4]
After Lena passed away in 1918, he married his long time friend, Antonia Iellamo (Yellum) and remained with her until his death on January 14th, 1954. He was also a detective working for the city of Haverhill. He even worked on a few cases concerning members of his own extended family.
In between Paolo's marriage to Lena and Antonia, he lived with his sister Concetta for a while according to the 1920 census in Haverhill.[5]
He had many children with both women and his descendants were known to hold many family reunions.
