Biography

Vincent Corbet, Esq. of Inner Temple (b. c. 1616, age 26 in 1642). On 15 July 1642 at St. Faith, he married Jane (b. c. 1621), dau. of John Acton, goldsmith & Blandina Penwin, Lady Skipwith.[1]

Notes

Burke, n.d.: Robert Corbet, esq. succeeded to the Humfreston estate. He married Bridget, eldest daughter and heiress of Sir James Pryse, knt. of Ynysymaengwyn, in the county of Merioneth, (which lady re-married to Sir Walter Lloyd, knt.) and by her had issue:

  • Vincent, of Ynysymaengwyn, ancestor of the Corbets of that place.
  • Thomas
  • James
  • Elizabeth
  • Bridget
  • Jane
  • Mary

Vincent was born in 1615*. He was the son of Robert Corbett and Bridget Pryce. He passed away in 1669.

*His b. is corroborated with the info found in Mrs. Corbet's book, which states his christening was in 1615 and that the marriage license records him as age 26 in 1642. If the b. date shown of June 4, 1615 is correct, the m. must have been prior to June 1642.

The Corbets of Ynysymaengwyn

From "The family of Corbet, its life and times", by Mrs. Augusta Elizabeth Brickdale Corbet:

Vincent Corbet, Robert's eldest son, was entered at the Inner Temple in 1639 ; he married Jane Acton before his father's death, in 1642. The marriage License describes young Vincent as a bachelor aged 26 and gives the age of Jane Acton as 21 ; it also says that she was daughter of John Acton citizen and goldsmith dec: of Friday Str: married with consent of her mother Blandina " now the Lady Skipwith: " the marriage to take place at St. Dunstan's in the West.

The pedigree for Ynysymaengwyn gives him two sons:
  • Vincent
  • James
and his daughters:
  • Bridget
  • Blandina
  • Jane

Corbett-1406 and Corbet-625 appear to represent the same person because: The single "t" Corbet is correct for Vincent, the mother's are set for merge and should end up being Pryse-28.

Thank you.
