Together with Margaret they had 6 children - Margaret, Alexander, Isabella, Janet, Christina & John.
Alexander emigrated to Australia in 1859 onboard the 'Eagle', sailing from Liverpool but his wife Margaret had died before they left. His sister Elizabeth went with him to help with the children. The 'Eagle arrived in Melbourne on the 21st of February 1860.
It is believed the family lived in a home they named Culbo in White Hills, Sandhurst, (now Bendigo), Victoria, Australia.
