Biography

Rex was born at the Karitane Ward of the Whakatane Hospital in 1946. He parents worked on Sladdin's farm on Downard Road Taneatua in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. His father milked the dairy herd and generally ran the farm. At this time an aerial top dressing trial was held on the farm, one of the first in the Bay of Plenty if not New Zealand. The aircraft in use were De Havilland - Tiger Moth. At around 1950 the family moved to Burr's Road at Whilte Pine Bush on Bob Burr's Dairy Farm again milking the dairy herd. By the end of the first milking season (mid 1951) Rex's father was offered a job managing a Horse Stud farm. In 1952 Rex started school at the Manakau Primary School.

Hi Rex,

I see that you just did the Pre-1700 Self-Certification. That's great! Is there a particular time period, location, or topic you're interested in? Maybe you have some historically-significant ancestors? Let me know. I can help you figure out if there's a project and introduce you to the project leaders.

Free Space pages are wiki pages for supplementing your family history. They can be used to profile anything of significance such as an event, a family heirloom .... They're "anything pages".

Not sure what to include in a profile? Check out our Biography Ideas and Styles and Standards help pages.

Sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

Questions, just ask! Mary~ WikiTree Mentor
