Biography
Michael was born in 1692. He was the son of Thomas Corbett and Muriel and was baptised at Quinton, Gloucestershire on 15 Nov 1692. [1]
On 6 Oct 1726 he married Ann Timbrell. Their marriage took place at Willersey, Gloucestershire. [2]
Just before his death in Mar 1763, Michael Corbett had his will drawn up. [3]He described himself as a yeoman and made bequests to:
- kinsman Thomas Corbett the elder of Lower Quinton, son of my late brother Thomas Corbett of Lower Quinton
- Giles Smith, son of Giles Smith of Admington
- my nephew Thomas Corbett, son of my late brother John Corbett of Lower Quinton
- Mary Southam, wife of Thomas Southam of Mickleton
- my loving wife Ann Corbett
- Michael Corbett of Lower Quinton
- Mary Smith, daughter of Giles Smith the elder of Admington
- John Corbett, gentleman of Lower Quinton
Michael died on 27 Mar 1763 and was buried at Quinton, Gloucestershire on 30 Mar 1763. [4]
The memorial to Michael Corbett in St Swithin's Church, Quinton, Gloucestershire reads: In memory of the worthy, pious and benevolent Mr Michael Corbett of Upper Quinton who departed this life March 27 1763 aged 70 years. Who did by his will and testament give to three trustees the sum of one hundred pounds to be by them laid out in land or set out on good security, and the rents, interest and profits thereof to be by the trustees distributed amongst the poor of Upper and Lower Quinton yearly and every year for ever.
