Biography
Don was born in 1934, son of Laurie Corbett and Althea Black. He died in 2018. His ashes are scattered with Doris.
Don attended Vogeltown Primary and New Plymouth Boy’s High Don’s work history: 1948-1951, GR Stewart, grocer’s assistant 1951, NZ Railways, unloading rail wagons 1951-1952, Borthwicks, Waitara, Freezing worker 1952-1953, Bank Line, Merchant Seaman 1953 (Sep-Dec), NZ Army. Compulsory Military Training (RNZAMC medics) 1954-1989, NZ Police, Wellington, New Plymouth, Stratford 1966 (Dec) -1967 (Jul) NZ Police UN Peacekeeping, Cyprus 1989 - fruit picking with Doris while on a five month tour of the South. 1991-1993. Robert Stone, Oaonui, Tea boy, cleaner 1993-1996, Hiremaster, Labourer Don and Doris retired to New Plymouth and together continued to enjoy travelling at home and abroad.
