Biography

Jane Corbin was born about 1716, based on the birth year of her mother and her first child, and died about 1773. [1][2][3][4]

Jane married Samuel Lane in about 1735 in Baltimore County, Maryland.[5] Samuel and Jane are believed to have had 11 children.

Jane died about or before 1773 in Baltimore County, since it appears she didn't migrate with Samuel and some of their children to Bedford County, Pennsylvania.

Research Notes

Jane is sometimes confused with her daughter-in-law, Mary Corbin (wife of her son, Samuel Lane), and her mother, Mary Jane (Wilkinson) Corbin. However, no known documentary sources contain the first name "Mary" for the subject of this profile.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Jane by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Jane:

I have not seen any reliable source listing her name as "Mary Jane." Even Find a Grave has removed "Mary." All of the old, pre-internet sources show her name as Jane Corbin. I believe "Mary Jane" was a confusion of her son, Samuel's, wife Mary Corbin and her mother, Mary Jane Wilkerson. See, for example:

Frederick V. Schultz, "A Reminiscence Sung," http://freepages.rootsweb.com/~rawl/family/reminiscence.html Edmund West, comp., Family Data Collection - Individual Records (online database, 2000), Ancestry.com, entry for Samuel Lane and Jane Corbin. https://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?db=4725&h=3938182&indiv=try. Yates Publishing, U.S. and International Marriage Records, 1560-1900 (online database, 2004), Ancestry.com, entry for Samuel Lane and Jane Corbin. Source number: 1305.087; Source type: Family group sheet, FGSE, listed as parents; Number of Pages: 1.

Unless someone produces a reliable source showing "Mary" as her first name, I will remove it after 3 days.

By the way, all of the existing links to sources are broken, so I will provide new sources. Unfortunately, most of them are paywalled at Ancestry, and the sharable records do not provide the full information, so I'll attach screenshots.

Corbin-2122 and Corbin-155 appear to represent the same person because: Same everything except the older profile Corbin-155 has much more detail.

Should this be merged with Corbin-155 ?

Corbin-907 Unmerged match

Birth date may be a guess, and death dates match. Same marriage. The reason I made this an unmerged match is the children. None of the children match - not one. We need an appropriate (not user-contributed, not a large Ancestry data base) source for the children, before any merge is proposed. Please see Sources which provide uncertain information Thanks!

Corbin-796 and Corbin-155 appear to represent the same person because: Although there are some differences in dates these appear to be one-in-the-same.
