Biography

Rita was born in 1962. She was the daughter of Richard Cordell and Barbara Marshall. She and her family were members of the Peoples Temple in Indianapolis, Indiana. They relocated to Redwood Valley, California in the 1960s when the Peoples Temple relocated there. She moved to Jonestown, Guyana in July 1977 with her mother, siblings, and other relatives. She and her family died there on 18 November 1978 when Jim Jones ordered the "revolutionary suicide" of Peoples Temple members. Her body was unidentified and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Oakland, California.[1]
