He studied at Oswestry Grammar and, from 22 June 1893, at Christ College, Cambridge. He was awarded his B.A. in 1897. He was admitted as a solicitor in 1901.
He was ordained as Deacon in 1905 and then, at Chester, as Priest in 1908.[2]

Rector of Church Eaton, 1913-1923
Chaplain to the Forces, 1917-1919
