Her story is complicated. My great-grandmother Milady was pregnant by a man named Foy Farrow. Foy didn't want children so he never married my great-grandmother. At that time her maiden name was Sladovnik. Milady then married Jack Corley. When my grandmother was 18 she was adopted by the Alexander family who owned the Alexander Hotel where my grandmother worked. This was because they very much loved my grandmother and wanted to leave her an inheritance. Then Melba married Henry Foreman, but we don't know if he is living or not. So she has many names.

She was my grandmother. Mom and dad's family both knew her.

Hey Eric, I noticed you merged Melba from her birth name/maiden name to your Grandfathers name. Even if she took his name her birth name, Sladovnik, is the name that should be for her. You can add the Married name to the Current Last Name for her and it will appear correctly. If her relatives look for her they won't be able to find her unless they know what name she took in her later years. Mags
