Biography

Jean Cormier (also known as John Cormey) was born on the 2nd of July 1809 in Memramcook, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada[1] to parents Jean-Baptiste Cormier and Adelaide Bourge and was baptized the same day[2].

He married Rebecca Lewis on the 31st of July 1832 in Sackville, Westmorland County, New Brunswick[1][3] and together they had 11 known children: Eliza (b. 1833), Margaret (b. 1836), Elizabeth (b. 1838), Hannah (b. 1840), Jane (b. 1842), Martha (b. 1843), Caroline (b. 1845), Roseanne (b. 1847), John Harvey (b. 1850), Melissa (b. 1853), and Samuel (b. 1858)[4][5][6].

Jean and Rebecca are mentioned on their youngest son Samuel's marriage record to Florence Jones dated the 28th of February 1892 as residing in Salisbury, Westmorland, New Brunswick at the time of the marriage. On Rebecca's death record, dated the 20th of October 1896 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, she is listed as a widow. Therefore it would seem that Jean died sometime between these two dates, aged 83 to 87-years-old.
