He married first Phebe Ann Mott, daughter of William and Sarah Mott, on 29d 4m 1836 [29 Apr 1836] at the Queensbury monthly meeting.[2] He had produced a certificate from the Purchase monthly meeting a day earlier.[3] He was officially received on certificate there in 1838.[4] Phebe died 4d 1m 1841, age 25 years, 8 days.[2]
He married second Amy Ann Cornell, daughter of William and Amy Cornell, on 16d 9m 1842 [16 Sep 1842] in Clinton, Dutchess, New York.[5] She accompanied him back to the Queensbury monthly meeting.[6]
On 21d 1m 1853 [21 Jan 1853], the family was received on certificate at the Creek monthly meeting.[7] The family included children William S., Robert R., Mary Hannah, Phebe Ann, and Rebecca T.[7] On 20d 8m 1857 [20 Aug 1857], the family was received on certificate at the Nine Partners monthly meeting.[8] A daughter named Matilda had been added to the family.[8]
