Tunis Clinton Cornell -- also found as Clinton T. Cornell -- was born about July 1865. ^[1] He was the son of William and Julia (Smith) Cornell of Bridgewater, Somerset County, New Jersey. ^{[2] [3]}

Clinton married Ella Hall in New Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey, on January 1, 1896. ^[4] In 1900 they were in Bridgewater, New Jersey, with children Naomi and Helen. In 1910, they were in Newark, New Jersey and had added a son Lloyd to their family. ^[5]

Clinton was mentioned as next of kin of his great aunt, Maria Van Liew when she died in 1893.
