Thomas CORNISH was baptised on 23-Dec 1832 in Gwennap. He was the son of John, miner, of Tresamble, and Harriett.[1]
In the 1841 England census John Cornish, 40 years of age, was a copper miner living at Gwennap With St Day, Cornwall, England. He was the head of his household which included his wife Hariot Cornish 40, and children: John Cornish 13, William Cornish 10, Thomas Cornish 8, Richard Cornish 6. [2]
The family lived in Tresamble in 1851. The family were still the same, just 10 years older: John Cornish 51, Elizabeth Cornish 51, John Cornish 23, William Cornish 21, Thomas Cornish 18, Richard Cornish 17 - although Hariot was recorded as Elizabeth (unless she has died and Elizabeth is John's second wife). [3]
William 21, Elizabeth 19, and Thomas 18 left England on the 1 May 1851 on 'Sultana' arriving in South Australia. [4]
