During the War of 1812, Thomas Cornwell/Cornell served as a private in the 2nd York Militia. On June 4, 1812, he volunteered and was selected at age 21 for service in the Captain William Applegarth’s 2nd Flank Company. [1]
He served from September 25 to November 24, 1812 and was present at the Battle of Queenston Heights on October 13th. [2]
In 1813, he served in a mixed militia detachment under the command of Major Richard Hatt of the 5th Lincoln Militia. He served April 25 to June 2, 1813. [3]
He served from July 13 to 17, 1813. [4]
He was absent from September 21 to 28, 1813 from Capt. Samuel Ryckman’s Company. [5]
He was stationed at Burlington Heights July 25 to August 5, 1814 in Lieut. Col. Richard Beasley’s Detachment, which was present at the Battle of Lundy’s Lane. [6]
A Thomas Cornwall served in the 4th Lincoln Militia during the war.
