Note: BIRTH-CENSUS: 1880;Fayette Co. KY; E.D.68;Sheet 5; Line 43; photocopy
owned by Mrs. Julie HU.
RESIDENCE: Lived in Hitchcock, Oklahoma, according to parents'
obituaries. Listed in 1910 census, Blaine Co., OK E.D.34 as Corrogan,
John, age 46, b. in PA, living alone. Also in 1900, as Corrigan,
John, age 36, farmer.
DEATH DATE: Oklahoma death cert. and obituary, Lexington Leader, Wednesday,
Feb. 15, 1928.
NAME: Middle initial 'P' given in obituary.
PARENTS: All sources give parents as Thomas Corrigan and Elizabeth Fay,
except Calvary Cemetery record, which says his parents were 'Ed Corrigan
and Mary Hudson'.
Oklahoma: I think it is possible that John participated in one of the Oklahoma land rushes, since his farm apparently was originally in Blaine Co.:'In 1890, this county was designated simply as 'C' County. By treaty with the Cheyenne and Arapahoe tribes, on 19 April 1892, the county was officially opened to settlers by land rush.
Also on that date, the county name became Blaine in honor of James Gillespie Blaine, Senator, Speaker of the House, and Republican candidate for President in 1884.'
If so, he probably lived there since 1892. However, his obituary from the Lexington Leader, Feb. 15,1928 says that he 'moved to Oklahoma in' [very blurry, but perhaps says 1896], thus casting doubt on this theory.
